Catholic Schools Week ~2013 Events~ Sunday, Jan. 27: Parish ~ We remember that the Parish is the central part of our spiritual life and show thanks and appreciation for our parish family. · Open House 9—11:30 a.m. · Pancake Breakfast 7-11:30 a.m. in school cafeteria—Dine in or take out—$6
Monday, Jan. 28: Community ~ We remember the investment of so many in our community who support Catholic Education. · Focus on community service projects: Project Pride—school wide beautification; Souper Bowl of Caring benefiting local area food pantry; Patriot Pals students will connect with the wounded warrior program and P.A.T. on the back benefiting Parents As Teachers. · CHANGE 4 CHANGE— spare change will be collected daily and donated to Turtle Wing Foundation and the Down Syndrome Foundation of South Texas. · Grades 1-4 visit local nursing homes to deliver cards, play games, sing and visit. · 5th,6th, 7th & 8th Graders volunteer in the community
Tuesday, Jan. 29: Students ~ We celebrate the wonderful students whose lives are touched by Christ daily. · Family Day lunch honoring our families and friends 10:30 a.m.—1p.m.—$6 · School wide scavenger hunt 8:30 a.m. · “Are You Smarter than a Cardinal” trivia competition 1 p.m. · Annual Student/Faculty Volleyball Tournament 2 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 30: Vocations ~ We honor those who have been called by God to serve. · Mass 8:10 a.m. · Prayer for vocations recited at afternoon announcements · Guest speakers discuss vocations/careers · “Celebrate Sundaes” - ice cream social with local area priests & ministers
Thursday, Jan. 31: Nation ~ We remember that we are part of a great nation where Catholic Education is made possible by sacrifice & dedication of so many. · Flag ceremony & Prayer Service 8:10 a.m. · St. Rose ~ Adopt a parish: Newtown, CN—classes will become pen pals with classes from St. Rose School in Newtown. We will be performing random acts of kindness in honor of the victims as well as offering spiritual support and prayers.
Friday, Feb. 1: Faculty, Staff & Volunteers ~ We honor all those who work and volunteer to support our Catholic School. · Prayer Service in gym 8:10 a.m. · Talent Show 9 a.m. · NOON DISMSSAL—Staff appreciation luncheon provided by HSA
